Car plows into crowd at Liverpool football celebrations (VIDEOS)

A vehicle collided with a number of pedestrians in the city center, local police have confirmed
A car has plowed through a dense crowd of football supporters as they marched to celebrate Liverpool having won the Premier League title. Local police have confirmed that one person has been detained in relation to the incident.
It was not immediately clear how many have been injured in the incident, or if anyone has been killed.
Merseyside Police said a traffic collision between a car and a number of pedestrians was reported in the Liverpool city center around 6pm on Monday.
“The car stopped at the scene and a male detained,” the police said in a statement.
Videos circulating on social media show a black car driving through dozens of people in a large crowd. There’s also footage showing police trying to push the angry crowd away from the car, with some of its windows already smashed.

Another video circulating on X shows what appears to be the moments before the car sped into the crowd. One football fan can be seen grabbing for the door handle on the driver’s side as the car lurches forward a few feet to stop. The driver is seen slamming the door shut. The crowd appears to be throwing trash at the vehicle at this moment.
“The scenes in Liverpool are appalling – my thoughts are with all those injured or affected,” UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer said in a statement following the incident. “I want to thank the police and emergency services for their swift and ongoing response to this shocking incident,” he said.
